They went on to work closely with another powerful spiritual center in San Diego area - Questhaven Retreat Center.
They were fortunate to live and work at Questhaven. They learned so much from a community that selflessly worked together to maintain the the 640 acres of the sacred grounds, as well as, keep the mystical teachings of their visionary founder, Reverend Flower A. Newhouse, alive and thriving.
This wonderful center gave Traysi and Tom more opportunities to have weekend meditation retreats of their own. They also were caterers for several events using 'Clean Green Eating', their version of healthy eating. They continued teaching meditation to the community and refine how to bring meditation to people from all walks of life.

Clean Green Eating
Clean Green Eating
Traysi Spring has been going to the Optimum Health Institute for twenty years, a natural healing center that teaches how to use raw living foods to reset the healing process of our body.
She recently spent three months there, where she lost 36 pounds and brought her blood sugar levels back to normal, after having diabetes for 2 years.
Traysi learned about the powerful impact on our health, of what we put into our mouths.
In her own explorations on how to bring this information home and keep it going in her life, she wrote down a step by step process, that helps to ease into a thriving plant-based lifestyle.
Clean Green Eating shares this process of how to use food to feel vibrantly alive and healthy on a whole new level.

Biography
Biography
Thomas Bakken was born and raised in a little town in northern Minnesota, where he was a teacher for over 30 years. He got his Masters Degree in Special Education, as he was always inspired to give "compassion to those who need it most".
He fulfilled this intention by working in the most challenging of learning environments, such as a prison, and a juvenile correctional facility, where he taught long-term prisoners, "at risk" youth, and children with special needs, for many years.
He taught for most of his life, with his first wife, Kathryn, by his side. She was a powerful force in education and was his daily example of how to strive for excellence as a teacher. She retired after 34 dedicated years of teaching, and within a year, was diagnosed with cancer.
Tom was devastated, but became her loyal support system through a two year painful journey. During this time, Kathryn and Tom discovered meditation as a way to alleviate stress and help with the healing process. They traveled together to the Chopra Center in San Diego, CA for a week of healing treatments and classes. But Kathryn's cancer was too far advanced and her journey ended, when she passed in 2012.

It was there that he met Traysi and they became instant friends. They were both inspired to become Chopra Certified Instructors and when they met again, months later, at another Chopra Event, they both committed to taking the training within the year.
They kept in contact to continue to inspire each other at a distance. Traysi was living in San Diego and Tom was still living in Minnesota at the time, and they started texting each other.
Many months of texting, turned into many months of phone calls, then the long distance friendship started to blossom into something more.
They started visiting each other and in time, Tom retired from teaching in Minnesota and moved to San Diego, California, where Traysi and Tom trained together as Chopra Instructors in both Ayurveda and Meditation. Then they got married and started teaching meditation at the Chopra Center.

Tom continued teaching on his own, but was less interested in the regular curriculum. He started to bring meditation to his students at the Juvenile Correctional Facility, as a way to bring healing to himself, as much as his students.
What he discovered, was that the students had definite changes in their behavior with the meditation. They would be more calm, clear and focused with their studies, as well as, more harmonious in their disposition. The students were resistant at first to engage in the meditations, but after a while, they started asking for it and it became a cherished part of their morning routine.
The daily meditation practice also helped Tom tremendously in moving through the painful grieving process, after Kathy passed.

He received a letter sometime later, from one of his students that had been through a particularly difficult upbringing, involving gangs and drugs. The student wanted to tell Tom how much the meditations had helped him and had given him hope for a better life. Tom was so inspired by the letter, but soon afterwards, he heard the tragic news that the young man was killed in a gang shooting.
All of these experiences woke Tom up to the power of meditation and he knew that he was ready for a new focus in his life. He decided to go back to the Chopra Center to continue learning more about meditation.

Have you been wanting to start a meditation practice,
but don't know how to begin?
Do you feel you have too many thoughts and you can't meditate?
Benefits -
• At this quieter level of our self, we start to remember our own sense of calm, joy and fulfillment.
• With regular practice of dipping into this internal well of silence, we naturally bring these qualities
back into our daily lives.
• This connection to silence helps to dissolve stress, and bring balance, clarity and healing to all
areas of our life.
Why a Centering Sound
or Mantra?
Most people say - “I can’t meditate,
I have too many thoughts!”
Mantra means 'mind vehicle' and is a powerful vibrational sound that guides the mind to quieter and quieter levels of awareness.
We give the mantra a more modern name -
'Centering Sound'.
Your Personal Meditation Practice
We offer a guided version of Deep Peace Meditation,
but the technique is powerful and can be used on your own, in your everyday life.
You can listen to the recording or follow the directions of using the centering sound, and try it on your own. Feel free to explore using this simple, yet powerful meditation for your own daily meditation practice.
Why Meditate?
At the deep center of our selves, lies a profound stillness and silence. Closing our eyes and drawing our attention inward, allows us to explore these hidden depths within our selves.
At this quiet place within us, lies a source of deep peace, connection, joy and healing.
Let's meditate together and dig down and discover our own secret treasure of simple silence and peace within.
No Experience Required - Fully Guided
When you meditate in a group,
it stirs the silence more deeply and enhances everyone's
meditation experience, as well as,
enlivens coherence in the environment.
It also reminds us of a wonderful sense of
connection and community.
See below for locations of
Group Meditations in Blaine, WA
offering programs in Meditation and a "Practical Path for Peace".
We are so looking forward to creating a community of people who are interested in exploring and enlivening their own source of peace within themselves.
At eleven years old, Traysiah was initiated into meditation, and immediately had an experience of sinking deep down into a place within herself, that she had never experienced before. It felt as if she was a heavy stone diving into a deep dark lake.
At the depths of this inner lake, was a sense of vast silence and profound peace. She felt as if she had come back home and had no interest in returning to the other world, from which she came.
It was from this moment on, that her life has been focused on exploring and understanding this new silent place within herself - within all of us.
She has now been meditating for over 43 years, and by making it a priority in her life, she has been blessed to have studied with some of the greatest spiritual masters alive at this time.
She feels that this life has been about being a sponge, to absorb as much knowledge as possible from these great teachers, as well as, a being chance to explore the depths of her own inner resource.
Then Traysiah met Thomas at a meditation retreat and they instantly recognized a joy and passion in each other, for the wonders and gifts of meditation.
Thomas has been a school teacher for over 30 years and had been a pioneer in bringing meditation into the classroom everyday. He saw how it opened something up in the students, so that they became more available for learning and enjoying life.
He also had huge transformations in himself, with a daily practice of meditation.
Traysiah and Thomas have come together with their experience and passion for how meditation can transform your life, and they co-created Simple Silence.
Simple Silence is a culmination of a lifetime of practicing meditation and exploring and absorbing knowledge about our inner world of awareness.
"The greatest gift I have ever received in my life, is the gift of my own mantra and the technique of how to dive deep into my own silent nature.
I wanted to share this gift with others. Especially those that feel they can't meditate, that they have no silence within them. These are the souls that need it the most.
Everyone needs to be reminded that they have an infinite resource of silence, peace, joy and healing within them."
- Traysiah Spring
Retreats -
If you want to explore even deeper, it's great to spend longer periods of time in this inner quiet part of yourself. This allows for surprising openings and revelations, about yourself and your life.
This is what meditation retreats are for. We offer
Celebration of Meditation retreats that are for this very purpose.
Then we can discuss the inner revelations that we all have,
in 'What if... Wisdoms'. So that we can have a broader understanding and perspective of it all.
What is the purpose of all this?
To get a fuller understanding of who you really are
and why you're here.
Your
Simple Silent Self
Simple Silence offers ways to guide you,
in getting to know yourself better.
The part of yourself,
that you may not have even met yet.
Your simple silent Self.
We have found that one of the best ways to re-acquaint yourself with your inner self, is to take some time to be quiet and still for a while, and focus your attention inwards.
In other words, meditate. This gives you a chance to get to know your own inner silent Self.
Simple Silence Meditation has been created for this purpose.
Our Vision
Who am I?
Why am I here?
What is it all about?
What if…
you already know, and you’ve just forgotten.
And there’s a hidden place somewhere inside of yourself,
that remembers it all.
Simple Silence is a safe sanctuary to explore your own inner hidden place of remembrance and awareness.
What if we are all one pure field of awareness underlying all the surface diversity and we have just forgotten?
And our soul's purpose is to peel away the thick layers of forgetting, to allow for deep remembering of who we already are at our essence, and have always been.
Our vision of OneAwareness is to create a safe online sanctuary for us all to explore together, the purpose and path of our souls. We envision an online community that meditate and do an uplifting daily routine together. We can share knowledge of our discoveries of our soul journeys and be a place to feel at home in your soul.
We offer transformational workshops and programs that guide us in discovering our Soul's epic journey of remembering who we really are and why we are here.
By using powerful modern holistic modalities, along with timeless ancient wisdom, we can help strip away the layers of who we are not, and allow our true selves to be revealed.
At this connected level of ourselves, deep peace, compassion and joy, are awaiting our discovery.

In the West, meditation is considered a program for stress management. It is a wonderful tool for dissolving stress as it is a side benefit of experiencing inner peace.

Stress builds up over time creating deep imbalances in our mind/body system

Deep Peace Meditation is a simple, effortless technique that gently guides the mind past our busy thoughts, to experience our own peace within.
In these times of nonstop technological distractions and faster and faster paced lifestyles, it is easy to forget to stop for a moment and take time to slow down and unwind. In my experience, the answer is simple - to rediscover our own peace.
What if there is a place of absolute peace already inside of each one of us. What if this quiet place is at the core of who we are and it is just waiting for us to discover it, and explore our own endless source of calm, clarity, joy and wellbeing.
And what if the best way to find our way to this place, is to close our eyes and be still for a while. Because it is in the stillness and quiet that the most subtle and powerful part of our self can be known.
I have been meditating for over 45 years now, and I can say that it is the number one tool I have had in my back pocket that has uplifted my life in countless precious and powerful ways.
There are of course many practical reasons, as well, to meditate. There have been many scientific studies to show that it has all sorts of health benefits. It has been shown to naturally lower blood pressure, as well as, stress hormone levels.

Living this way over time, can create accumulated stress in our mind and body. Then we can feel out of balance in many different ways.
By taking time everyday to be quiet and still and remember a sense of peace, then this helps to relieve stress, and rebalance our whole mind/body system. the deep center of our selves, lies a profound stillness and silence. Closing our eyes and drawing our attention inward, allows us to explore these hidden depths within our selves.
At this quiet place within us, lies a source of deep peace, connection, joy and healing.
Let's meditate together and dig down and discover our own secret treasure of simple silence and peace within.
Benefits -
• At this quieter level of our self, we start to remember our own sense of calm, joy and fulfillment.
• With regular practice of dipping into this internal well of silence, we naturally bring these qualities
back into our daily lives.
• This connection to silence helps to dissolve stress, and bring balance, clarity and healing to all
areas of our life. Why would we take the time to sit, close our eyes and be quiet for a while? What purpose could this serve?
