Practical Path For Peace

7 Simple Steps to Shift into a New Paradigm of Peace

Peace.

What is it?

Is it when all wars and turmoil in the world have ceased?

Or is the true experience of peace, a feeling inside, a state of awareness, beyond the constant ups and downs of any outer influence?

An inner awareness of calm, serenity and stillness, that we can all cultivate within ourselves, and choose to experience, no matter what is going on around us.

Let’s explore together, a step by step process, of how to remind ourselves of our own essential nature of deep peacefulness, that lies within each of us.

And by remembering and enlivening it, allowing it to flow into our daily experience, enhancing all aspects of our life.

“You find peace,

not by rearranging the circumstances of your life,

but by realizing who you are, at the deepest level.”

- Eckhart Tolle

Let’s begin….

7 Simple Steps for Peace

Step 1 - Peaceful Meditation

What if... there is a place within all of us, at the core of ourselves, that is an infinite source of profound peace.

A place, like the bottom of the ocean, where it's always still and quiet. No matter how wild and stormy the waves are on the surface.

What if this place is the essence of who we are - a field of pure awareness - that is always deeply peaceful.

Great sages, throughout the ages, have passed down timeless wisdom about a place of pure consciousness, a source of infinite peace, that we all have waiting within ourselves.

Scientists have confirmed, that at our most basic level, we are all made of pure energy. At the subatomic level, our physical bodies are nothing but tiny particles of energy moving around in vast empty space.

What if we can access and immerse ourselves in this place of infinite peaceful energy, within us. And by visiting this inner sanctuary on a regular basis, we can bring it out more into our daily life experience.

Well, we can.

How? By closing our eyes, being silent, and directing our attention inward, towards this infinite inner storehouse of peace. In other words, through Meditation.

There are many meditations out there, each with their own purpose.

Deep Peace Meditation is specifically designed for the purpose of guiding our mind, beyond our thoughts and beyond the surface distractions of life, towards our quiet place of pure peace within.

By practicing meditation on a regular basis, ideally every morning, we are training our attention to dip down into our inner reservoir of peace and get to know it. When we become more familiar with this essential part of ourself, then we can start to identify more with this aspect of ourselves, then we naturally feel more peaceful

naturally bring this peace back into our daily experience.

Deep Peace Meditation is a simple, yet powerful meditation that uses a vibrational sound to direct the mind to quieter and quieter levels of the mind. It is a timeless technique, originating in ancient India, sharing the same origins as Yoga.

The great meditation master, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, says, "With the practice of deep meditation, the mind contacts the pure consciousness of the spirit, and becomes more peaceful, happy and powerful. This state of mind enriches all values of material life."

The regular practice of meditating every morning, diving down into our peaceful playground, we all have within ourselves, is the most powerful thing we can do to remember that we are peace at our essence, and then bring this sense of "I am peace" out into our daily life.

After years of regular practice, I have experienced, that a sense of calm and peace naturally follows me throughout my day.

Deep Peace Meditation is available as a recording on this website, and can be used as a daily meditation practice. The recorded version can be used as a guided meditation, or we can simply take the directions of the recording, and experiment using the centering sound for ourselves.

Making it a daily practice to dip into our inner source of serenity, every morning, deeply recharges us for the day, and centers us in a strong sense of personal peace, which gives us much more resilience for the ups and downs of daily life.

the best opportunity to settle our mind and experience our own sense of peace within. This also enlivens this sense of peace, for the rest of the day.

Step 2 - Peaceful Daily Routine

A sense of peace, is our natural state of being, at our essence. When we meditate, we allow ourselves to dip down into our own source of peace, and experience it for a few moments.

But how do we maintain this experience throughout the day?

In order to experience this natural state of peace, in a practical way, during our daily life, we have to integrate it into our mind and body. A sense of peace in our body and mind is experienced when our nervous system is settled and rested.

One of the most effective ways to stabilize this, is through having a daily routine, that has the clear purpose of allowing our natural sense of peace to flow through us. The best routine for this, is one that is tune with the natural rhythms of nature.

Nature is always in harmony and peace, and if we pay attention and follow along with the natural rhythms, then we too, can experience a sense of inner harmony and peace. So our daily routine is really a "Routine for Peace".

We live in a natural world, and are an integral part of nature. When we are disconnected from this, we may experience all kinds of different imbalances, that take us away from our innate sense of peace.

An ancient system of holistic health, called Ayurveda, has been refining a daily routine in alignment with nature, for thousands of years. It's found that there are specific things you can do to follow along with the natural laws of the day.

The main suggestion from Ayurveda, is to live in tune with the movement of the sun in the sky. As the sun rises, moves overhead, then sets, it creates distinct energies, each for a different purpose, throughout the day. When we become aware of these specific energies and the time of day they arise, then we can align our activities with them, and experience more support of nature in our daily life. We like to call this - SUNchronize - synchronizing with the sun.

For example, rising early with the sun, enlivens our body/mind system, to be more clear and energetic for the day. Then meditating first thing, when the air is infused with silence, allows us to instill this in our whole body and being.

Also, eating the biggest meal of the day at noon, when the sun is highest in the sky and the hottest, we can digest our food much more efficiently. And going to bed early, preferably before 10:00pm, helps us to sleep deeper and process the events of the day more efficiently, so that we can feel more rested and peaceful for the next day.

To see the details of a full "Daily Routine for Peace", go to - SUNchronize.

It's surprising how the simplest things can create a difference in how we feel. By simply tweaking a few things in our daily life, we can go from feeling stressed, disconnected and cranky, to feeling clear, calm and peaceful.

By living a daily routine that is aligned with these powerful laws of nature, we can more effectively stabilize a sense of peace in our body and mind, allowing us to experience, in a practical and real way, more calm and clarity in our daily lives.

Step 3 - Peaceful Movement

JTai Chi, Yoga, walking, working out

Step 3 - Eating For Peace

Just like in our daily routine, where the simplest things can effect how we feel. The same is true with the food that we put into our bodies. Everything we eat, affects - if we feel more peaceful, or more uncomfortable and disturbed.

Our human body is an organic biological system, that recognizes other biological substances. For thousands of years, humans ate only food right from nature, in its original organic form. It's only in recent years that we've started processing our food, and adding chemicals and sugar.

Our ancestors probably wouldn't even recognize our present day boxed and canned products, as food to eat. But because we've all grown up with them, they seem normal to us. In our mind, that is. Our bodies still don't recognize these non-natural products. So what happens in our body when we eat them?

The body reacts with discomfort and inflammation, which manifests in any number of ways. After we eat, we may feel - tired, moody, unclear, crouchy, high in energy, then have a crash, achy, a burning sensation, or some kind of pain. When our bodies have this reaction to something we've eaten, its trying to communicate with us, that it's not happy with our food choice.

When we have these uncomfortable reactions in our body, it's very difficult to maintain a feeling of peace in ourselves. So food has a direct effect on whether we feel a natural state of peace or not.

Eating to feel peaceful, is a different way of looking at food. It is about paying attention to how we feel after we eat, rather than how it tastes when we're eating it.

What would our body recognize and therefore respond happily and peacefully to?

Anything that is straight from nature and has not been processed, in any way. Which are simply - fresh, organic, raw ingredients - vegetables, fruits, grains, herbs and spices, legumes, beans, nuts, and seeds.

Animal products have been shown to create some inflammation in our system, but in moderation they may work for some people. Products like - milk, eggs, fish, seafood and naturally raised meat products. Glutenous grains have also been shown to cause inflammation in more and more people. And of course some people have serious allergies to specific foods.

Everyone is different and we all have to pay attention to honestly how we feel after we eat. Do we feel light, clear, joyful, peaceful in our mind and body? Then that's our body telling us, "Thank-you! Now this is real food! I can digest this properly and it's nourishing for my whole system!"

We like to call this natural way of eating - Clean Green Eating. A simple way of looking at food, as pure, clean fuel for our body - what our bodies were designed to digest. It's eating food that is closest to its original source, so that our bodies can recognize it and process it properly and peacefully.

By eating clean, simple conscious food, that truly nourishes our body, without a negative reaction, we have more of an opportunity to maintain a sense of peace in ourselves throughout the day.

Step 4 - Peaceful Time in Nature

We can experience peace inside of ourselves, when we meditate. But there are few places in our environment, that demonstrate a true feeling of peace in the world.

Wild, untouched nature is our one consistent example of a thriving, lively, natural state of pure harmony and peace in the outer world. When we spend time immersed in nature, we are reminded that it's possible to thrive in a wonderful state of peace.

Nature vibrates at a deeply peaceful level. When we walk through the trees, or along a beach, because we are a part of nature, we innately sense this peaceful vibration, and start to settle down in our mind and body.

Scientists have discovered that when humans are in nature, our brain waves automatically relax and function at a calmer rate. This more relaxed brainwave level is called - Alpha. Alpha brainwaves occur when our mind is in a more restful and peaceful state.

Spending quiet time in this powerful vibration of peace, can be one of the greatest reminders, of how to live more harmoniously and peacefully in our own life. It reminds us to slow down, let go of the expectations of the outer world, for a while, and simply enjoy just being.

When we take time to walk through a forest, and allow ourselves to experience the living consciousness of trees and the intelligence of the animal beings, this may open up a fresh new level of awareness.

An awareness of how we are not separate from this world of nature, but an intricate part of it.

Explore this for yourself, next time you are in nature. Try walking silently in the natural world, paying attention to how you experience it through all of your senses. Slow down and notice the subtleties of what you feel, hear, smell, see and touch.

The intelligence of nature is always communicating to us. What do you hear when you really listen?

breath in fresh misty air, and notice the magnificence of a bird's song, or the intricate patterns in a maple leaf.

Try walking amongst the trees in silence and paying attention to the subtle energies that surround them. Listen to the birds' songs and witness the insects and animals in their natural habitat. Allow the subtle call of nature to be heard by you at a deeper level, than you ever have before. Nature is always trying to communicate with us. When we take the time to slow down and listen, we may be inspired by what we hear, see, smell and feel.

is truly important in life. Is it the pulls we feel of society to have success and accolades? Or is it perhaps, to Taking time to let go of the outer world for a while, can reset our sense of what our priorities are in life. We can let go of society's expectations for a while and just enjoy the simpleness and peace of just being.

When we come out of nature, we can look again at the choices we've made in our life. "Have I chosen a job, relationship, place to live, friends, that are enhancing my joy and peace of life, or are they taking away from it."

We can start to become aware of how things in our life may be affecting us.

Then we can give ourself permission to consider changing things in the direction of more peace in our daily experience.

By making it a regular practice to find some untouched nature nearby and walking in it, we allow ourselves to absorb the timeless wisdom, harmony and profound peace that it naturally exudes. Then we can be reminded that there is another way of functioning in the world - from a place of peace and harmony  take these qualities with us into our daily life experience.

Step 6 - Peaceful Habits

If peace is our natural state of being at our core, then why don't I experience this more in my daily life?

We may have unconscious habits that are deteriorating our sense of peace.

Letting go of Peaceless Habits

, so what habits do we have in our life that are taking us away from this natural state of peace.

We attach to the temporary - suffering - when we attach to the eternal - peace.

Everything affects us. When we have a peaceful daily routine, then we can feel more resilient to outer influences, but while we are learning this, we may want to be aware of any habits that we have that are disturbing our peace - For example - hanging around other people that seem to find the negative in everything, watching the news or violent TV,

We digest all things - Everything we take in with our senses we digest into our mind/body system

- Pay attention to what you watch on TV and read and the people you are around

- Try not watching the news for a while and see if you feel less stressed about the world – your friends will tell you any news that you need to hear

- Watching the news everyday can dissolve your sense of peace pretty quickly

- PAt attention to the people you surround yourself with - are the talking about negative things, are they adding to our stress? Perhaps spend less time with them

Step 7 - Peaceful Thoughts

My Thoughts don't mean anything. When we can watch our thoughts go by, like a river, and not engage them, then we have have peace of mind.

Letting Go of Peaceless Thoughts

The mind is set up to divide - 2 sides of the brain, 2 eyes, ears, nostrils, arms, hands, legs, feet - this all gives us a perspective of 2 sides - the intellect is designed to find differences and opposites - up/down, good/bad, dark/light, and judges everything from the perspective of separation - the mind has a much more narrow view of the world than the heart - the heart looks at the world from a mother's perspective - how can I love more, how can I bring everyone together more, how can I understand and help more. This is the perspective of peace.

Ego mind leads us astray - uses all ways to push us off the path of peace

Our thoughts don't mean anything - we don't take our thoughts so seriously - they don't run our life - we can see that they come and go and we can see things from a place beyond thought - see the peace underneath. Choose the peace.

Daily affirmations - I love and accept myself fully

Step 8 - Peaceful Emotions

Letting Go of Peaceless Emotions - Forgiveness

We are feeling beings and we feel so much more than we even realize. The emotions are like the weather - sunny/happy, cloudy/moody, stormy/ upset.

We find ourselves getting hurt and upset and what do we do with these feelings.

Every Loving thought is true - all else is an appeal for healing and love - if we look at the world this way, then no matter what other's behavior is - we can see it like a mother would see a child having a tantrum - they see past the behavior and love the child no matter what

.

If we can learn to love no matter what, then blame, resentment, anger can be dispelled - there is nothing to forgive

When we harbor resentment, anger, blame, vindictive feelings, then these feelings do more harm to ourselves than to the ones we are targeting them to

- Doing regular forgiveness and releasing, helps to keep our energy more peaceful - see tools below

Peace comes when we forgive everyone and everything that ever happened to us in our life, knowing that it was all for our learning. WHen we learn the lessons from it and let it go, we feel at peace.

Gratefulness every day

Step 9 - Purify the Body

We have been looking at purifying the mind, emtions and habits. But we also have to purify the body. Just like doing an oil change on our car on a regular basis, keeps our car running smoothly. It has a powerful effect if we clean out our physical body regularly, as well.

According to the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, if we do a deep cleanse at the change of every season, then any accumulated toxins in our body, can get cleaned out and we will function much better.

This also helps us to feel much more at peace in our body. When we carry a lot of old toxins, then this can make us feel, achy, in pain, uncomfortable in so many ways. By cleaning this out, our whole system feels more relaxed, calm and clear.

Ayurveda has a cleansing process called Panchakarma - which includes oil massage, herbal treatments and cleanses, a simplified diet and enemas. After a week of this, the body feels clean, youthful and energetic.

Simple ways you can do this on your own, are green juice fasting, massages, and colonics. For more details on how to do a complete cleanse on your own - SUNchronize.

Regular physical and mental purifications - oil change - the go deeper and refine nervous system - can start to have more and more subtle experiences of peace and silence.

Seasonal Routine - every season cleanse. Keeps us young and working well.

Step 10 - Simplify and Slow Down

Simplify needs and material stuff of life - - Letting go of Grasping and Holding On

- no longer needing to grasp or hold onto things - can let go and know all will be alright

- No more lack - feel needs are fulfilled - don't need to panic, worry, be peaceful inside and know everything will be alright, and you will attract things to be fine

- “All my needs are comfortably met” – because I have simple needs – a simple and comfortable home, clean water, fresh organic food, nature to walk in, others of the same interest to reflect with, something I love to do, some way I love to contribute

to others, some way I love to selflessly serve others

- Let go of activities, jobs, relationships, should’s, expectations, places, too much stuff - that disturb or distract you from peace

- Let go of material items that are cluttering your life

Go Deeper

Step 13 - Expand to Understand

I expand to understand/ I remember – for peace - I expand to understand - See myself and life from the perspective of spirit

9) I remember I chose it all - My soul chose it in the spirit realm before coming into this lifetime – seen in birth chart

10) I remember that it is all for having the experience – for the purpose of learning, growing and evolving as a soul – it is all for my highest good and the highest good for everyone – to wake up and evolve to the next level, When I see all that has happened in my life, from this perspective, it helps me to understand that it was all for my highest good, no matter how difficult the situation was.

11) I remember I am not my human mind/body system- I am spirit first, that is visiting earth for soul growth – my mind body is simply a vehicle for this to occur

12) I understand, appreciate, love and accept the function of my human mind/body system -It is a sophisticated vehicle for my spirit so I might have a realistic experience of this plain of existence

7) I accept it all - When I see the great unfoldment of the world, I see that it is perfectly living out its plan – There is no need for me to interfere with my small individual perspective – But I can be available to assist and support in a way that is my dharma - I accept it all unfolding perfectly – I let go and find peace – with myself, others, the world – I can let go of controlling and cajoling to have things my way – and just allow the unfoldment as it is – such a relief and a huge burden lifted off – we are free of trying to manipulate things for our own purposes – free to just be and enjoy

8) I love it all - Myself, others, the world – I now can’t help but feel natural compassion, love, kindness for others and the world and myself – as I see that we are all brave to come here and be a part of this charade – in order for us to break free from it – I love others playing the charade and marvel at their courage

9) I am grateful for it all - Myself, others, the world – I feel so grateful for the opportunity to be here and to be a part of this great charade – for my own opening and remembering and for everything that I have been through in my life – each thing has been for the purpose of my awakening – not to torture me – but for me to remember who I am and function from there

Step 12 - I am Spirit First

11) I remember I am not my human mind/body system- I am spirit first, that is visiting earth for soul growth – my mind body is simply a vehicle for this to occur

12) I understand, appreciate, love and accept the function of my human mind/body system -It is a sophisticated vehicle for my spirit so I might have a realistic experience of this plain of existence

Step 11 - Love and Accept Myself

11) I remember I am not my human mind/body system- I am spirit first, that is visiting earth for soul growth – my mind body is simply a vehicle for this to occur

12) I understand, appreciate, love and accept the function of my human mind/body system -It is a sophisticated vehicle for my spirit so I might have a realistic experience of this plain of existence

Step 11 - Love and Accept the World

7) I accept it all - When I see the great unfoldment of the world, I see that it is perfectly living out its plan – There is no need for me to interfere with my small individual perspective – But I can be available to assist and support in a way that is my dharma - I accept it all unfolding perfectly – I let go and find peace – with myself, others, the world – I can let go of controlling and cajoling to have things my way – and just allow the unfoldment as it is – such a relief and a huge burden lifted off – we are free of trying to manipulate things for our own purposes – free to just be and enjoy

Step 5 - Living for Giving

One of the main things that pulls us out of a state of peace, is the endless desires that are generated from our ego/mind. We may feel contented and fulfilled in our life for a while, but then inevitably, a new desire flares up from out of nowhere, that drives us to possess, or gain something new.

This is the natural way our human ego/mind works. It's designed to be a desire creating machine. It does this to distract us from a feeling of peace and contentment.

Why? Because, the ego/mind believes, that if we are content and peaceful, then it's out of a job. So, it endlessly and incessantly tries every trick in the book, to disturb our sense of calm and fulfillment.

We may not even be aware that our ego/mind is constantly running thoughts through our mind, like - "I don't have enough, I'm lacking in some way, I'm worthless, I'm not satisfied with my life, I must have more".

When we feel this way inside, our tendency is to grasp for things to fill these empty voids. But this is just a grand illusion. The grand truth is that we are whole and complete in our deepest essential Self - our place of profound peace within. From this place, we're in need of nothing.

This is why daily practices that connect us and integrate this place of peace in our selves, have a powerful effect on all areas of our life. When we're connected to our own essence of peace, then the voice of "lack" in our head, is not near as loud.

Then, when we feel more stabilized in peace in our self, we may find that we have much more energy to give to others. And ironically, this is where we can finally feel a deep sense of satisfaction and contentment.

Wise sages have shared, that there is no real fulfillment in living our life for "getting", but true deep fulfillment comes from living for "giving".

There is a surprising peace, that comes when we can let go of living just for "me" and start living for "we". Then we're no longer living from the mind/ego, but from the heart. The heart is connected to that wise and peaceful part of ourself, that views the world from a place of - love, inclusiveness, forgiveness, understanding and patience.

From this place we always have something to give. Every person we come into contact with, we can offer them - a smile, a compliment, a kind word, a prayer, a helping hand. When we pass the spirit of giving around, it catches on and everyone can feel more joy in their heart.

It is this joy in our heart, from giving to others, that is more fulfilling than any amount of "getting" for ourself.

This is one of the most challenging things for us all to learn as humans. But when we finally catch onto it, it feels like the secret key that opens up the treasure trove of true happiness, fulfillment and peace, in our life.

Step 12 - I Choose Peace

I discover that I can choose peace and make it a daily habit – Now that I know there is peace within myself. And I can view the world from this place of peace and I start to notice it in others. I see now that I can choose to feel peace in my life, no matter what is going on around me. No matter what the news is saying, no matter what is going on at work or at home, I can choose to feel peaceful within myself. There are two choices – Fear or Peace – we can choose either one at any time. Peace is our true home base. It is our ground state of being. When we feel balanced and at rest, we feel a sense of peace. So peace is simply going back to our own sense of balance of ourselves – going back home to who we really are. That is why everyone can relate to it – everyone has it.

Ego reaction – the ego, when threatened rises up automatically to defend ourselves – reacts with fear, blame, anger, upset-ness, stubbornness, shuts down – if we can become aware of our ego’s reaction - that we are not our ego – then we can learn to take a breath, see the situation from the perspective of peace and have a very different response that diffuses the situation, rather than engages it and inflames it.

When I practice this every day, it will become a habit of peace.

I can make it a priority to make it a daily practice to choose peace above all else. Whenever I have a choice, I say to myself - “I Choose Peace”. There will be times when it feels very chaotic and I feel myself being pulled into the turmoil. At these times, here are some tools to assist you.The Practice of choosing peace - I realize as I meditate everyday and have a routine for peace, that I start to feel more peace in my daily experience. I realize that at every moment I have a choice of my react to a situation. I can choose to engage in peaceless action, or I can choose to respond from a place of peace, calm an clarity.

Peace is a choice at every moment. And I can practice to live life from a place of peace. It takes practice. Don't be hard on yourself if you still react sometimes, but eventually you will find yourself responding with kindness, rather than harshness. Understanding, rather than judgment, helpful solutions, rather than criticism. Love and joy, rather than anger and bitterness.

At every moment we have a choice

- We can choose to feel peaceful, over feeling right, superior, judgmental, in control, needing drama, needing revenge, needing to hurt others, needing to put others down - we can choose to feel unattached, witnessing, watching like a movie or a river flowing by, watch from your heart, not your head, place of calm, serenity, bubble of peace

Decide that you want peace over any turmoil going o

- Stay in a bubble of peace – by not engaging in disturbances – take a breath and respond, instead of reacting

- I choose peace over being right, over being angry, over blaming, over vengeance, over being righteous, over being superior.

- I choose peace, because that is my nature at my essence, and I want to attune to the truth of who I am

- I let go of the world’s ideas of what I am suppose to achieve and acquire, and I live in tune with the vibration of nature, divine, God, the universe –

- What I am suppose to do then, is to just be – from that level of just being – we can observe the unfolding and interplay of the outer world and not be caught up in it

- It is the play, for us to learn and grow – ultimately to step out of it

Step 10 - Tools for Peace and Secret Weapons

Practical Peace

Peace Process - take a breath...

Living life at the natural pace of nature – the royal pace of the elephant

- Tapping for self and couples

- Forgiveness Prayer, Ho’oponopono

- Take a breath and then consciously respond, rather than unconsciously react

- You don’t have to be right, you just have to be love/peace

- Others’ behaviors are just a request for love – see past the surface and offer love and kindness, no matter how it appears

- Seeing an injustice can make us feel outraged – if we know that everything is unfolding as it should – then we can respond by not judging and by helping in any way we can – if we also become angry – we are adding to the problem, not the solution – don’t be fooled into reacting with rage, instead step back and respond with understanding, harmony and clarity of solutions

We digest all things- Everything we take in with our senses we digest into our mind/body system

- Pay attention to what you watch on TV and read and the people you are around

- Try not watching the news for a while and see if you feel less stressed about the world – your friends will tell you any news that you need to hear

- Watching the news everyday can dissolve your sense of peace pretty quickly
